The Impact Seat was founded by Barbara Clarke and Teresa Nelson, Ph.D. in 2015. Both Principals share a respect for data, cultural competence, and a belief in the value of diversity and inclusion for business and society. They’ve built a team to deliver on those beliefs through consulting, research, proprietary diagnostics, and the non-profit, The Impact Seat Collaboration.
Teresa Nelson, Ph.D.
Dr. Teresa Nelson is committed to bridging science based knowledge about innovation, diversity, and performance to policy makers and business people. She holds a PhD in strategic management from the the University of Illinois.
Teresa serves on the global advisory board for Astia the Scientific Advisory Board for Women Equity Growth, and the Global Advisory Committee for the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association, among other positions. She is a professor of strategic management and entrepreneurship at Simmons University in Boston.
Barbara Clarke is a Principal at The Impact Seat and an angel investor and venture capitalist working nationally and internationally. She now advises top teams on business processes and access to capital, and she collaborates with impact investing networks globally. Prior to these roles, she spent over a decade in management consulting (KPMG, PwC), including international appointments. She earned a BA from Tufts University in Quantitative Economics and a MA in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University.
